Madrid is the capital and largest city in Spain in terms of population with approximately 3.330.000, representing approximately 13% of total Spanish GDP.

Over the past years, Madrid has faced an increasing impact of climate effects, especially heat waves and adverse meteorological events. As a result, it has become clear that there is a need for improving green infrastructure and climate resilience in urban environments. The proposal of aRTes regarding the increase the green area of our cities by landscaping rooftops, placing productive vertical crops and integrating live green roofs into projects, is totally aligned with Madrid city adaptation strategy.
